Mask path tracking does not progress. Mask path options become disabled after cancelling operation.

I recall tracking working at some point, and I'm not sure what might have triggered this behavior to happen but now whenever I try to do mask tracking, progress bar does not move at all. Specifically I'm trying to make a gaussian blur mask to follow a face in my video.

Steps:

1. click on the Mask path and click on Track selected mask forward

2. Progress bar does not move, just gets stuck with this:

3. I press Stop because nothing is happening

4. Mask path buttons are now disabled.

5. Upon creation of new Mask, buttons become reenabled.

This has happened to all my recent projects. Haven't seen it work in a long time and I've had to do things manually which is a massive pain in the ass.

Hi @Rafael343109235qi7
Does the tracking fail on every shot you are trying to mask? For the effects, are you are using 3rd party plug in's or general effects such as gaussian blur and sharpen? Would you be able to provide a project with a shot that has failed to track the mask so we could see a specific example?
Thank you
Ian

@IanB_360  I tried experimenting a bit and found it a bit inconsistent. Unfortunately I can't send the specific file I've been working on for privacy reasons, but I'm trying to see if I can replicate it in another clip consistently. Here are some of my observations:

- original file is around 8min long,  1.7gb, mov, consistantly fails to track.

- when cutting the 8min long vid to a 1 min vid, it was able to create maybe 3 frames before it stops doing anything.

- tried a premiere sample asset and it works fine

- tried a 1 min drone video (dji neo) and it tracked poorly but was able to create frames consistently

- tried some random longer video I downloaded,  400mb, works fine

- downloaded 1.4gb vid works fine

currently trying to create a sample file with no sensitive information and seeing if it has the same problem. But so far the one thing I couldn't match is the Rec 2100HLG color space and the 59.96 frame rate. None of the files I found had those so I'll try making a sample with the same metadata

Agree. Mask tracking is completely unusable for me, and has been years. It simply does nothing.
