Media Encoder Always Hangs at the End

Media Encoder always hangs at the end of the export of an MP4. If it's a short 2-3 min video, it only hangs for a few minutes. If it's a 1-hour video, it hangs for a very long time. I tried the "pause" maneuver, but it's not working. I tried the pause trick again after waiting 20 minutes but ME crashed. It is infuriating to sit through a 42-minute render for this to happen. Adobe has never fixed this issue that has been reoccuring for years.

Well so much for that idea. It worked for me twice, but not after that. I think I just need to let it go for a long time (!) and hope it doesn't shut down. Sure is a big waste of time.

It was a fluke. Hope it works for you. The next problem was getting rid of the file in the encoder. There was no delete option. I can't remember what I did to stop it, but it stopped, and I could remove it from the queue.

It's been frustrating for me as well. I just tried something that worked, for me, for a 30 minute video with no audio.

I paused the encoder that had been stuck at 15 seconds left for half an hour. I went into the folder with the original .mov and the almost all encoded mp4. The .MOV file had a thumbnail, but the mp4 did not. There were two other files in the folder - one an M4V file and the other a .tmp file. Numbered, not named, as below. I trashed both of them. I double clicked the Mp4 (still paused in the encoder). It took maybe a minute - but it opened upand played as expected, so far. I opened a new folder and dropped the mp4 into it. The thumbnail came back. I dropped it back into the first folder. It now had a thumbnail, and played as expected. It's a fluke - but it may work for you. Cheers - Jim.

It seems that 3 minute sequences hang for a few minutes. One hour sequences, I don't know. I haven't let it go more than 30 or 40 minutes. I don't have the time to waste on it. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only guy having this problem as it's been talked about for years. I'm just flabbergasted that it has never been fixed.

Hangs forever, or hangs for a long time?
