Multicam Scaling Issue | Preview showing 100% Scale despite Nest being at 50% scale

Community Beginner ,

Hi everyone,
I'm encountering an issue with my multicam setup in Premiere Pro 25.1.0. I have a sequence set to 1920×1080, but my nests are at 3840×2160 and scaled down to 50% to fit the timeline. I use these nests for synced A-Cam/B-Cam clips, and I use the multicam view for live camera switching. However, during playback, the preview windows show the clips at 100% scale instead of 50%, and switching cameras causes the main preview to display at 100% momentarily before reverting on pause.

Project Setup

  • Sequence Resolution: 1920×1080

  • Nests: 3840×2160, scaled to 50% to fit the timeline

  • Scenes: 9 scenes, each representing a nested A-Cam and B-Cam (B-Cam audio removed)

  • Multicam Setup: Enabled for each nest

  • Workflow: I use the multicam view in the Program Monitor and switch between cameras using keyboard shortcuts (1 for A-Cam, 2 for B-Cam)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a sequence at 1920×1080.

  2. Create nests with footage at 4K (The nests default to match the sequence setting)

  3. Adjust the sequence settings of the nests so that the nests match the original footage 3840×2160 and not the sequence

  4. Drag the 4K nests into the 1080 sequence and scale them to 50% to fit the timeline.

  5. Enable multicam for each nest and enable the multicam view in the Program Monitor.

  6. Press play and switch cameras using the keyboard (1 and 2).

  7. Observe the preview behavior in both the main and smaller preview windows.

Observed Behavior

  • During Playback:

    • The smaller preview windows show the clips at 100% scale rather than the 50% applied in the timeline.

    • When switching between A-Cam and B-Cam, the main preview temporarily shows the clip at 100% scale.

  • On Pause:

    • The main preview reverts back to the expected 50% scale, while the smaller preview windows remain at 100%.

Expected Behavior
Both the main preview and the smaller multicam windows should consistently display the clips at the 50% scale that’s applied in the timeline, regardless of playback or pause state.

Troubleshooting & Environment

  • Premiere Pro Version: 25.1.0

  • Hardware: Macbook Pro, M1 Pro Chip, 32GB Memory

What I’ve Tried:

  • Verifying that the scaling is applied correctly in the nests.

  • Searching for similar issues in forums and Adobe support documents.

Has anyone experienced similar issues or found a workaround? Could this be a known bug with multicam preview handling in Premiere Pro 25.1.0? Any insights or suggestions on how to force the preview windows to consistently display the 50% scaled view would be greatly appreciated. Or just let me know if I'm over complicating things.

Hi @Francisco_VideoEditor,

I can see the behavior you're talking about.  Let me look into it more for this specific instance.  I might change the order I do those operations myself, but I don't know enough about your workflow.  Is there a reason you do not want to work in UHD or make the nested sequences HD? I hope we can help you soon.

Hi @Francisco_VideoEditor,
The good news is you're not over-complicating things. Adobe is aware of this issue, and a bug report has been filed.  Sorry for the frustration, and thanks for reaching out.

Hi Rach,

I want to keep the nests in 4k because it gives me the flexibility to digitally zoom in without losing quality. I noticed when I nest a 4k shot and it converts to 1080, I lose that flexibility. I've attached a screen grab for extra clarity.

I'm having the same issue on Adobe Premiere v25.2.3 (build 4), running on an Apple Mac Studio M4 Max (macOS v15.5).
