Attempting to import an XML from Resolve -- Premiere is hanging on the "importing files" dialog.  confirmed multiple times, hangs for over 10 minutes.

the system has not frozen, however, and one can still click cancel and be sent immediatley back to whatever the state the project was in before trying to bring in the xml timeline.  In this case, a totally blank project.

The same xml imports just fine into v 24.6.3, as I've been doing this workflow since about 2015 or so.

Any ideas?  Pretty devastating issue for me, and will keep me on 24.6.3.

This is on Windows 11 22631.4317

(it hangs up on this dialog box)

and confirmed the issue with multiple XMLs that work in 24.6.3, and hang up in v25.

Version of the app: 25.0.0

Platform: Windows 11, version 23h2, build 22631.4317

The problem: Premiere won't import files into project panel, I can get aroung by clicking cancel and trying again.

Steps to replicate:

  1.  Create new project
  2.  Go to project pannel
  3.  Double click it or right click and click import

What should have happened: Windows explorer opens and I chose the file I want to import.

What happened: Premiere Pro shows a popup informing "Importing" but it gets stuck

Plugins and extensions: Premiere Composer, Motion Bro, Free audio search, animation studio, envato, magic bullet colorista V, motion 4 and myfx.

We've recently fixed a problem that seems related to what you've described; do you see the same problem, in the current PPro beta build?

Summary:

Recently, my Premiere Pro cannot import project files from After Effects. The import process gets stuck at the "Import Information" pop-up, preventing the file from being added to the project.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create and save a project with a composition in After Effects.
  2. Open Adobe Premiere Pro.
  3. Go to File > Import and select the After Effects project.
  4. Observe that the "Import Information" pop-up appears and stays stuck.

Environment:

Premiere Pro Version: 25.0.0 (Build 61)
After Effects Version: 25.0.0 (Build 53)
Operating System: Windows 11 Home Single Language 64-bit
Hardware:

  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10210U CPU @ 1.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
  • 20GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce MX230

Expected Result:
The After Effects project should import successfully, and the media should appear in Premiere Pro.

Actual Result:
The import process stays stuck at the "Import Information" pop-up.
The project is not imported into Premiere Pro.

Please investigate the issue with the import process, particularly with the "Import Information" pop-up, to restore smooth integration between the two programs.

Did you try it with other AE files and/or with a new project in PP?

That AE project looked, from the diminished screen capture to have many comps, can you do it with a simplified AE project.

I just did it with a simple AE project and a new PP project, except I dropped it into the PP project panel from file explorer.

Did you delete your cache with the upgrade to 2025?

We've confirmed that the "infinite progress dialog" behavior is fixed, in the current PPro beta.

I've confirmed that I can successfully import PluralEyes FCP XMLs in it, without incident.

Are you not seeing successful import, in the current beta?

See correct answer, from jamieclarke.

This behavior is fixed, in current PPro beta builds.

it is not possible to import PSD files with single layers to Premiere Pro 25.0.0 .

There is no progress in the process and this window here stays open even after minutes without any result:

Hi @Reyna37134984uttm - I believe your issue is a known issue.

Issue: Windows customers may see an “Import Files” dialog box that never completes in the following conditions:

  • The Learn, LibrariesFrame.io panel, or any panel listed in Windows > Extensions, is turned on.
  • An AAF, Final Cut Pro XML, or EDL file is being imported.

Workaround: When importing these file types, first close the above-listed panels. The panels can be turned on again after the import has been completed.

PP 25 Windows gets hung up on importing files while doing XML import.  Doesn't crash it but just hangs on import window.  Had to import on latest version of 24 and then boot up v25.

We believe we've addressed this issue already, in PPro beta 25.1 builds; could you give it a try, in a current beta build?
