P: MOGRT "Render and Replace" shows incorrect result and replaces files

Using MOGRT in Timeline and changes e.g. text value. "Render and Replace" renders .mov-File with default values! After "Restore Unrendered" and again "Render an Replace" rendered .mov-File is correct. Using MOGRT multiply times in timeline "Render an Replace" always use same filename (not increasing) and replace files thats leads to error retrieving frames.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Import MOGRT via Graphics Templates-Panel multiple times to Timeline
  2. Change e.g. text value
  3. Render and Replace (Source: Sequnece, Format: Quicktime, Prest: Match Source - Apple ProRes444, Location: Next to Original Media) - select clip for clip (not selct mulitple clips)
  • Result: Renderd .mov-File shows wrong (default) values, all rendered .movs gets same filename, error retrieving frame
  • Expected result: Rendered .mov-File show right values, multiple files gets increasing filenaming

Bug exists in Version 25.5 and still in Beta 25.6.0 (74) not in Version 25.3

Mac Studio 2023 (M2 Max), OS Sequoia 15.7, Premiere Pro 25.5.0 (13)

Just want to let you know, that’s there is still this issue in released version 26.0.1 (Build 3):

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Adding one MOGRTs twice to timeline
  2. Use “Render and Replace”
  3. Inserting the same MOGRT again

What should have happened

All 3 MOGRTs get’s its own (increasing) render file “_Rendered.mov”; “_Rendererd_001.mov”; “_Rendered_002.mov”)

What actually happened

Render files won’t increase correct getting “_Rendered.mov”; “_Rendered_001.mov” and “_Rendered.mov” again for the new inserted one!

System

Premiere 26.0.1 (Build 3) on a Mac Studio with M2 Max and MacOS Tahoe 26.2

Two months now… Adobe… seriously?

EDIT: And just as I wrote this, an update arrived (25.6.1)! Eagerly I installed it and… Surprise – nothing fixed! This is just plain ignorance, isn't it? Not acceptable!

EDIT2: Same with Version 25.6.2 today. No fix.

By the way @jamieclarke: It's nice that you showed up here to acknowledge the bug, however nothing has happened since. Why?

My sugesstion: Roll back to Version 25.3!

You can choose "different version" in Creative Cloud. There you can use MOGRTs and "render & replace" with increament filenumber.

Has any progress been made on this? This is a feature I use a lot and its completely broken. I have to make individual folders for individual renders of the same AE comp in my project to avoid overwriting different renders.

In the past when I render and replace the same clip after "restore unrender" it would render a new file with an incremental number, allowing me to add an edit to a rendered clip and only re-render a small portion that ive edited. I've recently noticed that when I do that it doesnt do an incremental render and it replaces the whole thing which breaks the link to the full rendered and replaced clip.

For example:

I have a 10 second AE Comp in Premiere as a Dynamic Link. I render and replace it. I then realize I have to change something in the last two seconds. I go back to AE, change it, add an edit before the section that needs to change in Premiere, select "Restore Unrendered" for just that section and then select "Render and Replace" again.

It used to just render that necessary 2 second piece with an incremental number 0002, 0003, etc. Now it just renders the whole comp again but places the start of the comp at your edit point.

I'm on 25.5.0 (Build 13) and on a Mac

Any updates on this? This issue, that somehow must have accidentally slipped into the sofware, can't be that hard to fix. Two weeks now, but I fear Adobe needs to address so many other issues, that I will have to revert to a previous Premiere version before it happens.

I have a similar problem here. Every instance of a MOGRT prerendered via "render and replace" results in the same renderfile (same name) hence previously r&r-rendered instances are replaced with the latest rendering. Haven't had this issues about two months ago(?). Good to know, that this seems to be a bug.

Okay, this is very very weird.

I applied both several things in the ESP and then added a Parametric EQ to the clip ... then did a render & replace to ProRes422 sequence/include effects ... and the effects are all still visible in both the ECP and the ESP ... but the clip plays without any of them actually applied, and is very quiet.

Again, select the r&r clip, the ECP and the ESP both show the effects I had applied as-was.

BUT ... the waveform on the clip is back to the very low input state, and clearly no audio effects were applied or are being applied now.

Even though they show with the clip.

If you add video effects to a clip and "Render and Replace" with the Include Video Effects box checked, the resulting rendered clip will retain the video effects albeit greyed out with a (Rendered) note next to them. Restoring the unrendered versions will unlock the effects and allow them to be adjusted again.

Doing the same process on an AUDIO clip does not have the same results. After Render and Replace the audio effects are stripped out, and resoring the clip does not return the effects to the clip; they are gone.

A client has reported this in v24 and I have reproduced the issue in 25.5. Only workaround is to stack the rendered clip in the timeline so that the effects are at least maintained when the clip is returned to it's unrendered state (useful for an audio turnover at least)

Mac Studios (Sonoma and Sequioa), v24.? and v25.5. Audio is embedded in ProRes clips or separate WAV files.

HI @Det Scholz -  Thank you for reporting this. I was able to reproduce the issue and have filed a bug report. We’ll update this thread as soon as we have more information to share.
