Premiere Pro freezes and then crashes Macbook Pro M3 Max

Hey,

When I'm editing in Premiere Pro, 4K/8K or just with footage shot on an iPhone, Premiere Pro and my Laptop freezes I can only move my mouse but I can't click on it and then 3-5minutes later my Laptop shuts down.  I had it in Lightroom Classic also once but mainly in Premiere Pro. I think it's Adobe related because with the same footage I can still edit in CapCut. I deinstalled Premiere Pro already a few times but It didn't help. What shoud I do?

It sometimes also happens when I'm exporting. At a random precentages the export freezes and doens't progress anymore. When I cancel the export the same happens as I told here above.

Hey Kevin

I never work with files on the cloud but OneDrive is installed on my computer could it be a problem although I only edit with local files?

Hey Kevin

It happens the most with Canon R6 Mark II footage 4K 50 fps cinemagamut c-log. I edited a video with only footage from Sony camera's and experienced no crashes then.

Maybe it's a problem with that?

Already thanks for asking!

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the reply. Did you check out @vwmw reply? Are you using cloud storage or other storage (that may have permissions issues)? See if moving the clips to the desktop as a test might work.

Thanks,

Kevin

Quick update. I was able to get my Premiere to operate by moving all of my working files to a folder on my desktop. It may have something to do with not liking assets/files stored on the cloud (which is strange as I've always worked with my data stored in either Google Drive or Dropbox due to space usage). I copied the working file and all assets to a temporary folder on the desktop and reconnected all assets and was able to finish my project.

Hello @Thomas23510895tg7l,

I read your message. I read and understand your issue. I apologize for the lack of a response. The team cannot answer every report, but they do read them. The devs tend to respond more to problematic bugs that have a lot of up votes.

I am not sure why you are experiencing this issue when dealing with iPhone footage. I don't have the same issues on my M1 MacBook Pro on Sonoma with iPhone footage. I am shooting in "most compatible" mode, however. That is a camera setting in the iPhone. Can you try a test with the same? Are you shooting in any of the advanced modes, like Cinematic mode or in HDR? Is it 4K and 60fps? Any further details would help the team reproduce the issue.

Sorry for this issue.

Thanks,

Kevin

This suddenly started happening to me too! MacBook Pro 16" 2019 2.3 GHz 8 core i9 AMD radeon pro 5500M 8GB 32GB 2667 MHz DDR4 on Sonoma 14.5.

Creative Cloud diagnostics tells me to update to 25.5 but it's already 24.5.0 Build 57!

Very annoying, can't finish my project!
