Premiere Pro project makes CPU overheating then PC crash

Hey,

I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 Version 25.2.0 (Build 147).

I'm using Windows 10 Pro with those specs :
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-7920X CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz

- 128 Go
- Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti (with the last drivers)

I'm currently working on a Premiere Pro file (around 900ko) and everytime i open the project, my CPU goes from 2% to 100%. I'm not even editing or rendering, just opening the file. So my computer starts overheating and crash/restart without any error message.

1 day before on the same project I wasn't having any of those issues, it started today.

When i close the project, CPU immediatly comes back to around 2/10% capacity used.

- I tried with another Premiere Pro project and there is no overheating problem, only on this project.
- I updated every drivers
- I restarted the computer
- I cleaned the Premiere Cache

I supposed it's related to some type of files I imported in the project or maybe some settings.

Does somebody knows how to repair this problem ?

Hey,

Am sorry my answer won't be directly to your last proposition but here is what happened today :
- since 2 days am working on another project (on 25.1), i had 0 problems, 0 crash

- yesterday i downloaded the last update of premiere

- tried to come back to this very new project (wich is not the one i had problem with at the beginning) and computer started crash again

I'm gonna try the 2 minutes sections you recommended but I think the case i just explained showcase the fact that the problem doesn't come from the sequence itself or the project.

Hi @Tiago2983754923qs - I would say there is something in your sequence that is causing a problem,  Can you try and save  2 minute sections of your sequence in separate projects and then try and open those in 25.2 see if you can find the area that is causing issues.

Hey,

I did try and it works just fine. I can launch the project and work on it without overheating constantly. Thanks !
Does that mean i should not install the next updates too ?

HI @Tiago2983754923qs - It sounds like there is something in your sequence that is having trouble.  Are you able to open it in version 25.1?

I tried to launch the app like you said : no changes.
Then i tried to import my sequences and the computer crashes like always during the process.

My NVIDIA driver is the studio one, version 572.83

Hi @Tiago2983754923qs - Can you try and hold down "SHIFT" while launching Premiere and check the boxes
"Reset app preferences" (Backup Preferences first)
"Clear media cache files"
"Reset plugin loading cache"
"Disable third-party plugins (one-time only)"

Can you confirm if you are using the studio driver for your gpu? Adobe recommends using the "Studio" driver version when working in Premiere Pro.

Let us know if you can import the sequence into a new project.

GPU driver is 32.0.15.7283

I do have plugins installed but they are not used in the project and have never been an issue before.

It does not happen with a brand new project.

I did not try to import cause they are a lot of files but i'll give it a shot

Hi @Tiago2983754923qs -  Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.

What gpu driver version are you using?

Do you have any effects, third party panels, or plugins installed?

Does this happen with a brand new project?

Have you tried creating a new project and importing your sequence from your old project?

Sorry for the frustration.
