Transcritpion & Caption Issues

  • July 1, 2025

I am asking myself, why it's not possible to get the transcription and caption feature to run stable. From the first day of introduction it crashed due to very poor buggy steps in the editor.

EXAMPLE

Today, it's the re-transcribe sequence feature. If I start it crashes every 2nd time/sequence untill I found out, that I have to change the language to any language and back to the language that is used and then crashing stops. Workarounds like this, I've been using for years, but you only get it by conincidence, as it's beyound logic, it's a bug.  E.g. Dynamic Link has taken 4-5 years to get reliable...is this the concept?

The basic software is awesome. I am a power user for 20 years, now., But, every 3rd Update is more an adventure, introducing strange beahviour. Please, don't advice me to reinstall, please programm the things correct. Is this possible? I don't want to be forced to switch to another application. best, Sebastian

@schnudiesounds,

Main support page:

https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html

Click the chat button lower right. In the top bar of the chat box, "More contact options." That should give a box with "Call us," and a phone number with days/times. You want to ask for the "Video queue."

I don't know if the US holiday will affect any of the options.

Let us know.

Stan

May you can give me a hint, how to contact the technical support. After searching I am redirected to the Community 😉

Thank you for jumping in. Goin back to 2024, things run reliable. My window also looks very different to Alexander's one....as said. no deal, as the setting was made. I will have to contact the support, and find out, what's goin on. I have one idea that could cause the mess in the windows: Updating during a project. But in real life it will always occur as one projects takes 1 year and another 2 days 😉

@schnudiesounds,

I have recently upgraded to Win 11. I am not having any issues transcribing in release 25.3, latest Beta, or really any recent versions. I'm having no crash issues for anything.

I thought I just updated my Nvidia driver, but no: RTX 3070 on driver 566.36.

The screen you had that was different from Alexander's: he was in Preferences, you were in the create transcript dialogue. For most things, it won't matter.

If the latest version also causes crashes this might be a hardware issue.

Please directly contact Adobe support so an agent can try to triage by logging into your system as this is just the community forum.

This is the end of ideas, end of support? After Upgrading everything got even worse. Every 2nd attempt to export a sequence to Media Encoder ends up in Shut Down of the Software. My System is new, Hardware is nothing exotic....I guess the best strategy is to downgrade to 2024 or even 2023....rather poor.

On my system, after updating a couple of minutes before I see a different window than yours for the automatic thing...not a big deal, but different.

Nevertheless, I saw that the automatic transcription was active in the general settings. I expected to overwrite this behaviour, when i choose it in the dialogue itself.

Regarding the driver: I am on a RTX5000 with studio driver 572.16...the latest version caused crashes.

It took my 5 attempts to find one version that works.

Thank you for the additional details.

What version of Premiere Pro are you using? On windows a large source of instability originates from outdated gpu drivers (or gaming drivers). Could you confirm which GPU your system is using?

On the "import page" - right hand side you also have the option to disable the "auto language detection"

Hi Alexancder, thank you for your feedback.

I forgot to mention that I am on a WIN 11 machine. Sorry.

The app simply closes and I have to use the recovery mode.

I didn't use the automatic mode and Premiere Pro did not. The app suggests the correct language sometimes, sometimes not :-))). If I use it's suggestion, crashes occur every 2nd time. If I choose another language and then tick it back to the right one, it works. I guess it shows a selected language, but under the hood it's in automatic mode. That could explain the behaviour in a logical way.

BTW: every 10x I send my sequence to the Media Encoder same procedure > crash....

Thank you for your feedback.

When you say "crash" do you mean the application fully exits? or does it get corrupted in any other way?

There are known issues with older versions of Premiere Pro (25.1) running on specific versions of OSX (15.1) - which are known to experience problems when running the language auto detection. You can work around this by either updating Premiere Pro to 25.3 or by updating your version of OSX to a newer version.
You can also disable auto-language detection in the preferences under the transcription options.

Best regards,
 Alexander
