32 bit audio in Premiere pro

Explorer ,
May 27, 2022 May 27, 2022

Hi everyone!

I'd like to use 32 bit audio in my sequence to have a good sound quality... Where can I set the value to 32 bits in my sequence settings?

Thanks!

You can only change the sample rate to match the audio you have. Audio for video is generally always 16-bit 48KHz and many export codecs are limited to 16-bit only. So don´t expect to be able to get 32-bit audio in let´s say H.264 or H.265 exports. They will come out as 16-bit.

But you can use 32-bit audio assets and when done render the audio out to a 32-bit .wav/.aif and use your DAW to downsample it from 32-bit to 16-bit and import that into Premiere Pro and use it as the master audio. Your DAW will probably downsample from 32-bit to 16-bit better than Premiere Pro.

I also found out the hard way that you don't have audio clip keyframes when you use 32-bit audio, at least when it's recorded directly into Premiere. That doesn't appear to be documented anywhere. After exporting to a 24-bit .wav, audio keyframes are available and behave as expected. Audio track keyframes are available when using 32-bit audio however. Puzzling...
