Accelerated Renderer Error Unable to Produce Frame
For the past 6 months or so, we’ve regularly ran into an “accelerated render error unable to produce frames” upon exporting. I have been troubleshooting this non-stop and, I can’t for the life of me, pin down the specific cause of this error. It all started when we moved from Premiere 2019 to 2021. I’ve tried everything under the sun including:
- Clearing Media Cache
- Attempting in both Media Encoder and in Premier
- Software Only Renderer
- Identifying and removing any specific clips around the error TC
- Removing all effects, including lumetri color
- Collect files and copy (via project manager) off our Facilis Terrablock server to the local desktop and to an external hard drive
- V/PRAM Resetting the Mac Pros
- Updating our OS from Catalina to Big Sur
- Attempted on multiple systems including 2013 Mac Pro, 2020 Mac Pro, and 2021 Mac Mini with M1 Processor
- Both dynamic link and mov with alpha MoGFX
- Attempted on all available versions of Premier 21 and Premier 22 (including the latest 22.4)
- Exporting without audio
- Deleted Video Previews
- Deleted Plist files
- Exporting in Prores 422, h265 HEVC
- Attempted to find a GFX driver to update but nothing for AMD Radeon Pro Vega II
The problem is that the error occurs at different times. If I remove the seemingly faulty clip, it will just error out at a different time. The other problem is that it doesn’t always happen. In some projects, it won’t ever happen, but I’d say about 50% of our projects are experiencing this error. Once they error out, it’s like pulling teeth trying to get a successful export out. It will error out 9 times out of 10 and then randomly it will successfully push it out. However, these successes can NEVER be duplicated.
It’s happened in big projects, small projects, projects with a mix of old (2012-ish at the oldest) and new footage, projects with only recently shot footage, projects with lots of graphics and effects, projects with no gfx or effects, projects with multiple codecs and projects with the same codec (Sony XAVC-I). There is no consistency with this error. Our Macs should have no problems pushing out these projects by the way. We have 2019 Mac Pros with 3.3Ghz 12 Core Intel XEON, 192 GB of Ram, AMD Radeon Pro Vega II 32GB graphics, and a 4tb internal SSD. We shoot 4K max, but the majority is Full HD with basic After Effects graphics for titles and L3s. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to crank these exports out no problem. The only repeated successful exports are with Premiere 2019, but obviously, that’s not a long-term solution.
I feel like I’ve tried everything I can, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas for how I could pin down this problem.
Thanks,
Blaine Pasma
