Adding a new 1 TB SSD, suggestion for best use of old SSD (250GB)

I am upgrading my current 250GB SSD with a 1TB SSD, my question is how would you best utilize the old 250 GB drive? I will install the OS on the new 1 TB drive and my video files will go to the Standard HD. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to installing the Applications on their own SSD (the 250 GB drive)? Just curious what others would do in this situation.

Also any good recommendations for a good quality really big HD for video files? The 2TB Western Digital seemed like alot when I was a photographer, but getting into video makes you look at things a little differently when it comes to storage.

Intel - Core i7-4930K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor

ASRock - X79 Extreme6 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard

G.Skill - Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Samsung - 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (OS and program applications)

Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive(video and program files)

EVGA - GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card

Windows 10 Pro

If the new and old SSD's are both internal, I'd leave the OS/programs on it as there should be plenty of space for them, and use the big SSD for media and project files.

Is the multi platter unit a RAID 0 or a backup or storage type of rig?

I recommend a minimum of five internal drives for best organization and performance.

    C: Windows and Programs

D: Project files, audio files, still images

    E: Cache and Scratch

    F: Camera media/proxies

    G: Exports

C, D and E can be SSDs.  F and G tend to need the most space, so HDD's may be more cost effective.

Thanks for the help guys. My current HHD is just a single unit, I would like to set up a raid drive. What size HHD do you find the most cost effective and practical for  a video editing set up.

Take a look at Newegg.  Look at reviews for models that fit your storage needs and budget.
