Question

Adjustment layer causing super slow render time

This is the first time it happens to me. I simply have an adjustment layer with two effects (brightness and contrast, as well as HLS).

When I disable it, the render takes about 2 minutes to export in 720p. When I enable it, it takes up to 2 hours or so.

HLS is'obsolete' for a reason. As Ann notes, it's not GPU-accelerated, as it's old code that most colororist's felt had issues with its internal math anyway.

The capabilities of Lumetri are actually far better than HLS, though there are some things that are a bit easier to do with that specific UI. But stick with Lumetri.

And Lumetri is much handier. You don't need to "apply" the effect, simply stopping on a clip and changing settings in the Lumetri panel "applies" Lumetri to that clip. Rolling down a sequence with Lumetri is fairly easy and slick. Faster than working with the ECP really.

HLS is a non gpu acc. (red renderbar and obselete) effect. hence the longer render time.

Might want to get used to Lumetri.
