At times, in CS6 Premier, File--New--the "Adjustment Layer" is greyed out, and I can't add one. How to get it functional?

Click the New Item icon in the Project pane.  It'll always be there as an option.

I just figured this out - to select file>new adjustment layer you have to have the project pane selected... if you have the timeline (or anything else) selected it will be greyed out, along with some of the other options. Wierd.

Thank you.. Any reason it's grayed out in File/New? Bug? Good reason?

Don't know.  In 10+ years of editing with PP I've never once used that method to create anything new.

Thanks - this helped me. Adobe should consider fixing this IMO as selecting the project pane first isn't intuitive.

Keyboard users wanna do alt+f , n, a.

I guess you can do that but just add shift+1 in the beginning to select the project pane. It seems strange that an adjustment layer needs to be organized in the project pane, however.

Yes this worked. If you cant find your Project Pane goto WIndows>Project or Shift+1(WIN default settings). Once selected goto New>Adjustment layer. Once you click it an adjustment layer will be added to your project pane and you can drag it to your timeline.

No it won't. Using Premiere Pro 12.0.0. Was functioning normally yesterday. Today, unable to access Adjustment layer—Project pane is selected. Unable to add layers or mattes in lower left bar under Media window as was always able to do. Of all the Adobe products, Premiere is the MOST unreliable, inconsistent and frustrating. Each update only worsens the matter. WTF???

Even if it is ticked select it again as the adjustment layer will appear in your bottom left project window. you then have to pick and drag on the time line.
