Adjustment Layer Transform Crops Image

I'm working in a 1080x1080 timeline which is the final delivery specs.  The renders I'm cutting in are 1920x1920.  I need to apply a 96% size across the entire timeline and I want it to apply to every new clip I add to the timeline.  When I do this using the transform effect on an adjustment layer it crops the image so there is black on all sides.  I'm trying to figure out a way to effect the entire timeline, all new shots cut in every time, and not have the cropping.

If I right clip on the clip on the timeline, set to frame size, and then scale up instead of down it works but I'm trying to eliminate that set to frame size step.

We are constantly adding new versions to our timeline and I don't want to have to remember to copy and paste attributes to every new clip to make sure the new framing is correct.  I also don't want to change my timeline resolution settings so that when I export it exports same as my timeline.  I'm trying to make it fool proof since we have a lot of editors updating and exporting the edit.

You may not realize that you can save multiple effects as one preset ... select them together in the ECP, right-click: save as preset. Quite often, you can apply these to selections of clips in a bin, or the entire bin.

So apply the needed set of effects as a preset to a whole bin of clips, drop those on your sequence ... done.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what steps you're doing. Between applying a 96% size change in the Transform and scaling up ... or what not ... I think I'm still missing something. Are you downsizing the original 1920x1920 to 96%, then dropping that on a sequence? Or ... what?

Could you create a sequence that is 96% the size of 1920 X 1080 and drop in all your clips into the sequence? The video clips should get cropped. Then you can export 1920 X 1080.

Can you please post a screen shot or a screen recording of the issue so I can provide you with an adequate solution?

Let me see if I can create something from scratch and re-create the problem, the material I'm working on is pre-release material that I can't post.

First, do have 'set to ... ' as the default. Then just use the Scale option in the Motion intrinsic effect. Save as Preset. Drop the preset on clips in the future. I think that would work. Works here.

Unfortunately I have many different sequences I'm updating at the same time in the same project and some of them cannot be set to "set to frame size" as the default.
