Question

Adobe Premiere 2024 is very choppy and I don't know why.

Whenever I am using Adobe Premiere and After Effects, the video quality is very choppy and laggy. It doesn't matter how small the video file is. I could literally animate a red ball going across a blue screen and it would still be choppy. Even when I download random short videos off of Youtube and put them into Adobe Premiere, it looks quite choppy as well. I have no idea what's going on.

It's not because of an old laptop either. I just got this laptop 3 months ago and it runs games extremely well, yet when it comes to video editing, the video playback is quite choppy.

Here are my computer specs:
Computer: Slim 7 Prox 14ARH7
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS Creator Edition 3.30 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (27.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Touch support with 10 touch points
Display Adaptor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU

Please, I need help because I need to have a good editing laptop for school and I really don't want to buy a new laptop since I got this one just 3 months ago.

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver).

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Me too. And I thought it was my fault. Then I thought it was a piracy prevention feature. I clip youtube sometimes. Heŕe is what worked for me. I Uninstalled both. The beta and the og. I think they were conflicting.  Works perfectly again
