Hello All,
I'm importing a Apple ProRes 422 HQ file with discrete 5.1 + Lt/Rt audio on channels 1-8 (L, R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs, Lt, Rt). Please see attached image for original audio import reference. When I export the file after making a couple edits to the picture, it's not allowing me to retain the source audio as discrete tracks on the revised file. Instead, it's exporting an interleaved stereo audio track on Channel 1. I've tried multiple ways to fix this, including going through Media Encoder and creating a new sequence and assigning 8 audio tracks, but nothing is working. Any advice on how to fix this?
Thanks!

It looks like you're editing in a sequence with a stereo mix. To resolve this, you need to be working in a multichannel sequence.
Create a new sequence and, in the New Sequence window, go to Sequence Presets, and in the Broadcast folder, choose an 8-channel preset that matches your frame rate.
When you export, make sure to choose a format that supports multiple audio channels, and under Basic Audio Settings, click More, and ensure the Output Channels are set to 8.
No worries, Cal! Happy to help.
In your Export settings, go to Basic Audio Settings, click More, and scroll to the bottom of the window (it's kind of tucked away). Then, change Channel Layout from Mono to Discrete.
If you want the audio metadata to exactly match the original file, you may need to look into a metadata editor or the application that created the original file.

Hi Paul! Thank you for your reply and assistance. I am working with the above poster. Your instructions seemed to work - thank you for pointing out the Broadcast folder option, that's where we were going wrong.
On our original source file, (ProRes 422HQ 2398 with discrete 5.1 + LTRT) we can see the discrete tracks listed individually when using Quicktime's inspector tool. (Screengrab attached.) However, on our export, Quicktime inspector is only showing two tracks, but is showing that there are 8 mono channels.
Additionally, Premiere does show the discrete tracks on the new export. Do you know if we can determine what is causing this difference? Perhaps a metadata output option?
Thank you for your continued assistance and expertise!

Thanks, Paul! This is what we're getting now with movie inspector on Quicktime. Do you know if there's anything that would be preventing it from showing as individual tracks separated out like it does on the original file?

Hi Paul... I was wondering if you could assist yet again. We are exporting in 5.1 and had to remove a few tracks. To cut to the chase, basically I'd like to make what's on tracks 1-8 in this screenshot also audio channels 1-8. I'm not sure how to reassign channels.

You should be able to do this by following the steps above—create a new sequence with an 8-channel broadcast preset and paste the clips into it. The preset will automatically route each track to a separate output channel.
