I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 2020. The Error message - The importer reported a generic error. It only happens with some movie files. Can anyone help me?

Hey Malcolm,

This must be frustrating. Is there any specific reason you're using an older version of Premiere Pro? Will it be possible for you to test this in a more recent version of Premiere Pro? Alternatively, you can also try transcoding your .mov files using ShutterEncoder and check if that helps.

Thanks,

Ishan

Greetings Ishan,

Many thanks for your reply and thoughts. I’m using the ‘older’ version of Adobe Premiere because my desktop computer cannot handle the newer versions. I have been able to work with this ‘older’ version without a problem until now. I will try your suggestion to see if this gets around the problem, if not I might start the project again with a new file and keep my fingers crossed.

Regards,

Hi Ishan,

I installed ShutterEncoder and hope you might be able to offer sdvice on which format I choose to make the files work in Adobe Premiere? I will attach the Shutter Encoder image on my screen. I look forward to your thoughts.
