I just wanted to report this just incase someone else had this same issue. Two days ago Premiere did an automatic update from 14.0.4 to 14.1. After which I started getting this message when opening up new and old projects "a low level exception occurred in: adobe player (Player:5)."
I did the recommended restart Premiere while holding the ALT to set it back to it's default, and that didn't work. Same issue was still there. I updated the drivers to my graphic card, using the Radeon RX 480, and that didn't work. But the graphic card is performing even better with the new update, but Premiere still had the issue. So I un-installed the new 14.1 version of Premiere and went back to the 14.0.4, and YES! I'm back up running. So I wanted to test my theory out and I re-installed the 14.1 update and sure enough the issue came back, while trying to open up some of the same project that was just working in the 14.0.4 version. So the issue is in the new release from Premiere, not in my PC or hardware. So for my final confirmation I re-installed the older version and everything is working again. So I hope at least someone from Adobe will read this and check into it.

Sorry, the word "solution" is being liberally used by Adobe.
Having to degrade your graphics card to fix a new bug isn't a "solution."

Who degraded their graphics card? 😳
I didn't do that. I rolled back the Premiere not my graphics card. I updated the card.
