Question

After playing the video, the preview screen freezes and won't play anymore.

Hi all. I've recently gotten a laptop from work to work from home. Everything works well except for Premiere Pro. Whenever I try to edit a project, everything works fine. UNTIL I play the video in Premiere. It works for a few seconds but then the playback freezes and so does the preview window. Dragging the timeline-cursor still works but the preview doesn't update accordingly to where I place the timeline-cursor. It just freezes.

I've tried resetting the workspace, cleaning the media cache, but with no result. I'd love to fix this so I can continue my work.

Thanks in advance.

It is important that you give details of the sequence, the footage and your system.

FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

OS: Windows 10 Pro.
CPU: Intel Core i7-1165G7
GPU: Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 96EUs
RAM: 32gb

4K .MOV Footage, 25 and 50fps.

The sequence was a 4K, 25fps timeline.

I'm on the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro. Editing from an external HDD.
Footage works fine on my desktop system. The laptop however does not seem to work properly.

The only solution for me is to restart Adobe unfoartunately. For me, it happens anywhere from 15minutes to an hour in a project. It's really annoying... I was hoping to find a better solution, but I will keep you updated if I do

Hi,

Same issue here, was wondering if you have any updates on this issue.
Did this happen fresh from the start or after a windows update for you?

No updates so far. For me it was fresh from the start. But then again it happened on a brand new laptop, which probably updated to the latest version of Windows.

Hi defaultlxcv19n98zhh,

Sorry for your issue.

Could you try clearing the media cache and resetting the preference of Premeire Pro?

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu

Already tried this. This sadly was not the solution.

Hi there,

We're sorry about the poor experience. Let us know the version of Premiere Pro, the system specs (OS, CPU, GPU & RAM) & the specifications of the media files you are working with (format/codec, frame rate & frame size). We're here to help, just need more info.

Thanks,

Sumeet
