Hi,

I'm currently editing a video where my MPG and MOV files cannot be conformed. I don't know if this has a connection, but all my clips change start an end point, so that stuff that shouldn't be in the video suddenly appears. Super annoying to have to edit it all over again. I am not using any audio from the clips, and it works fine to export it - but whenever I open the project again to keep editing it, everything is changed. Any of you know a solution to this?

I have the 13.0.2 version

Sequence settings;

Editing mode: Custom

Timebase: 25,00 frames/second

Pixel Aspect ratio: Square pixels (1.0)

Fields: No fields (progressive scan)

Preview file format: I-Frame only MPEG

I've deleted all unused media caches, moved the cach folder to the same as my clips, uninstalled Premiere and installed it again - nothing changed...

Managed to fix my own problem. Took all the MPG files into media encoder and made them to ProRes 422. Replaced all the original MPG clips and now I don't get the error message anymore!

I have a similar, but different question. I have had to transcode a batch of video files to change format from, say, .mpg to .mp4. The files I am transcoding all have bad audio that need to be fixed. Is there a way to batch replace the files without relinking them all one at a time? Or is there a better way to fix the audio in files that don't conform without transcoding to a different format?

If the files all have exactly the same name except for the extension, simply unlink the files in the bin.

Then use the "locate" panel to re-link, deselect match extension, navigate to the folder and select one, with find all selected, and it should see them and use them.

Great, thank you for the quick reply! I think that will work. As a follow up to the initial question in this thread, I've tried resaving/transcoding my files that have audio when played some places, but exhibit the conforming issues in question. I tried re-saving as ProRes 422, but the new versions have no audio. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a way to only re-encode the audio of problem files?

Managed to fix my own problem. Took all the MPG files into media encoder and made them to ProRes 422. Replaced all the original MPG clips and now I don't get the error message anymore!

Thanks for this post, Carina. I have the same problem and will give your solution a try. I do have one question though - when you converted the MPG files to ProRes 422 did it change the quality of the video at all? I've been trying to avoid "re-doing" my old videos in case the clarity is lessened, so would like to know how you made out in that regard.

A transcode to an intraframe codec like ProRes, and at the bandwidth level of 422, should be visually lossless through a couple generations at least. T-coding to an intraframe is a normal part of high-end editing. And ... well ... for modern Fx heavy movies, some scenes have been t-coded, worked, rendered, worked, rendered, worked ... through six or eight generations. Then shown on 60 foot wide screens.

Yea, a one-time t-code to ProRes422 shouldn't be at all visually seeable for quality change.

Hi, sorry for not providing enough information - I have never used the forum before!

Premiere Pro CC v13.0, Eraldicon

Installed recent updates

Mac OS Mojave v10.14.2

I have both MPEG files and MOV, but I think it’s only affecting the MPEG files, Video Codec Type: MPEG 4:2:0.

I have never had this problem before, but also never used this camera and codec before.

Full error message: an unspecified error occurred while performing a conform action on the following file —-- in the media cache files

Appears when editing, and the media pending window appears

No other softwares are running

Do not have any third-party effects or codecs installed

Read some other places that it helped to clear the cache files, this has not helped me - also tried taking the files into a new project, tried uninstalling and installing premiere again, updated everything, tried changing the sequence settings - no result.

What camera? And what is the format/codec choice in the camera settings?

There's a free download app called MediaInfo. I'm on my phone or I'd add the link. Download and install, then drag/drop one of those files onto that app's icon on your desktop.

MediaInfo will open, in the options got to that apps "tree view", and do a screen grab of the video section. Let's see exactly what sort of file that is.
