Hi,
As mentioned in the subject line, I'm having an issue with my audio and video no longer being in sync in a project I've opened from a couple weeks back.
The project contained video and audio that I syncronized manually on one time line, then I pulled clips I wanted to use from that time line and moved it to another. Now anywhere I have the clips from the "sync" time line the audio begins from the start everywhere there is a cut in the video. It's kind of tough to explain, but hopefully that makes sense. This seems to be the case for all of the audio across all time lines in the project. All of the auto save files have this same issue.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated.
Premiere, you never cease to amaze me.
Thank you for your response!
This does sound like the same issue, however I have to say that the apparent solution on that particular thread did not fix this issue for me. However, one of the answers in this thread did contain the solution for me. I've linked to it below.

I am having the exact same issue at the moment and unfortunately have not found a fix yet. I feel like this has to be a bug with the new update. I used tentacle sync for this project so accessed the files from an XML so thought that could've been the issue? But it seems like it is just somthing to do with Premiere

Yikes. I hate to hear this.
Luckily for me this particular project is relatively straightforward. I can get in here and manually resynchronize everything - as much as I don't want to do that. I am worried about opening other more complicated projects as this seems to be altering saved data. Seems like this could be pretty catastrophic. This doesn't instill a ton of faith in Premiere for me.
Any suggestions for more stable video editing software or solutions would be appreciated.

Yeah, it's not a good one.
Check out this thread, it sounds like it's part of it...

In all seriousness, thank you for the assist!

Which exact answer contained the solution for you? I'm going through the workarounds on that link now and not seeming to find a solution

For me this was the solution:
Workaround #1 – Restore media
As with many of the bizarro problems I encounter with Premiere or After Effects - I hate that this is the solution, but I'm glad my project is working again.
Hope you can figure out what is going on with your project.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. 🙂

Same problem, for me solution was make file offline, change a file name and relink file with changed name. Everything back to order. 🙂

This is happening to me for a second time. My experience is that I edit a sequence and have it the way I want it and export it. Everything is fine. Then the next day I open the project and all the carefully synced sound in the clips is now way off. The in and out points of the audio tracks are totally different from the video.
Here are the main similarities of the two times where this happened. And it is not drifting sound either, as indicated before about iPhone footage. I have never had trouble with iPhone footage in Premiere. Maybe I'm lucky, but this is not that kind of issue. The audio is way way off, by multiple seconds.
What was the same about these two times:
1. I had allowed the program to transcribe the audio and tried to edit the footage by editing that text. This was in another sequence.
2. That was not to my liking so I started another sequence and edited the traditional way.
3. The audio was from a flash mic that records to a flash card in 32 Bit Float.
4. The video was (yes) from an iPhone.
5. The audio was sycronized first to the clips. The original iphone audio was deleted and replaced by the microphone audio and linked to the video
6. I adjusted the gain on the audio.
So it all worked very well and the export was fine. The next day I wanted to make a few minor tweaks and all of the audio was completely off. I mean completely, not like a little.
Not only that but the same sequence was off in all the previous versions of the project and the auto saves. So disheartening. Awful when you're on a deadline.

Hi @mythster,

Thanks for the message. It sounds like an issue with your second system audio workflow. Which device and software was used to capture audio? By which method was the audio synced? I've seen others experience issues using Tentacle Sync by syncing clips outside of Premiere Pro via XML.
If you did sync clips inside Premiere Pro, can you try to transcode the audio before importing it and synchronizing the clips? You might try a test doing so.
Any details you may have left out? Let us know!
Sorry for the frustration.
Thanks,
Kevin

Thank Kevin:
That might very well be it. I use the Plural Eyes plugin to sync the audio. Maybe I should just sync the audio in Premiere synce it has those capabilites now. Also Maybe I should trancode the audio after I get it from the flash mic or maybe even normalize it in the mic, since that is a common denonminator as well.
I would be very happy if it's not Premiere that is causing this.
Thanks for the help. I'll test a different workflow.

Did you check out the link above, that seemed to help some others?
It's strange that it worked well and you got an export on it?
Here's that link again. What version of PP are you on, and OS?

Thanks for responding. I did check out that link and I tried those things but nothing changed. I even moved the project and had it transcode the video and then opened it on another machine. Same problem. I also tried opening it in the PP beta.
I also tried renaming the audio files and relinking them. I even got the audio files from the mic and replaced them.
So weird that I couldn't even go back to a previous version or auto save either. Right now I'm just going through and matching all the audio up. But I'd like to find a better solution if this ever happens again. This gives me serious concern about PP. I'm even thinking about finding another solution.
I've been working with Premiere since the late 90s. Even did a whole feature length documentary film on it. But I can't imagine if I had this problem on a project like that. It would be a complete disaster. When the backups don't even work because of something that's awful.
These are the versions I'm on.
Thanks for your help.

It happened again. I was prepping something for my live show and exported the edit and it was fine
Here is the link https://youtu.be/PdERH4FmWSM
But i noticed there was a stray audio track so it was too long. I opened the project, and re-exported the same thing and the audio for the close-ups was off by a lot. Same thing that happened before. Permanently off in the timeline.
Here is the link to that clip that I played on the show and had to replace with the other clip as soon as I noticed
Here is where that happened in the show.

Real bummer.
Now the timeline is permanently wrong and I have to spend another hour or so fixing it manually like I did for the other one.
It's truly a problem. Not sure why there isn't more posts about this.
