Audio attributes won't copy and paste

Community Beginner ,
Sep 11, 2024 Sep 11, 2024

I am unable to copy and paste audio attributes, specifically volume. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and tried creating a new project.

This used to work fine.

I'm on a deadline for a huge project and am getting frustrated.

Adobe is so expensive and issues like this aren't ok!

Anyone got any ideas or fixes? Thanks!

I just tried this in 24.6.1 on a Mac, and I was able to copy volume level from one clip and paste it to another clip.  So, at the most basic level this seems to be working.

Could you be a little more explicit about what the exact steps you are trying here?  If possible, posting a screen recording of what you are doing is always the best way to ask for help as it eliminates most variables.  Otherwise many of us that are trying to help will just be making guesses about the nature of the issue yo

I have updated my mac, uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere and still cannot copy and paste audio attributes. I am simply using Ctrl C then right clicking menu to paste attributes the same as I always have. Any other ideas?

This is still pretty scant information.   I’ve tried the same steps and it is working for me in Premiere 24.6.1 on a Mac.

What version of Premiere and what operating system are you using?

What is the format of the clips?

What  is the audio channelization of the clips?

In the past Attributes dialog, are all of the attributes checked on?

Have you tried copying via the right click copy command?

Have you inadvertently altered the keyboard shortcut for copying or pasting?

Does copy and pasting clips on the timeline still work, is it JUST the paste attributes command that isn’t working?

Have you tried a new sequence as a trouble shooting step?

This is why I generally ask for a video, since it can show the state of the system for things that seem obvious to you, but are not obvious to me.

This wasn't my post, but it's now my issue. Working on a Macbook Pro OS 15.1 with PP v 25.1.0 (build 73). I was actually able to copy and paste audio volume attributes earlier today and certainly in the last week, within this same project with the same computer/version.

I am not able to make a video example currently, but I am selecting an audio clip (this is an audio file, not video, fwiw) in the timeline, and either doing cmndC or using copy from the menu, then selecting one or more other clips and using Paste Attributes. I select volume in that menu. When I do that, nothing changes.

I am able to use the basic copy paste funtion to paste a clip on the timeline, for example. For fun I tried putting an effect on a video clip and was able to copy/paste that to another clip. For further research, I was also able to copy/paste an audio effect.

I quit PP and restarted the computer. I tried it in a different timeline with different clips in the same project.

Earlier today I ticket the preference "generate waveforms automatically during import" and then unticked that preference due to performance issues. I am now considering whether the copy/paste issue began after that.

Hi Jill,

I did end up resolving the issue but I can't clearly recall what I did but it did involve updating my Mac to latest OS, uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere all under a deadline and Adobe never got back to me. I've been an editor for over 20 years and I am very keen to move away from Adobe to DaVinci, the greed of the subscription format is revolting and they don't even provide decent support. I hope you solve the problem.
