Question

Audio conversion from 29,97 to 25 fps

Hey, I shot a short film recently and during the process of syncing the audio with the video footage i stumbled upon a problem, although in the beginning of the take it was synced correctly, after a few seconds the audio and the video went out of sync. When going throught the properties i found out that the audio was apparently somehow recorded in 29,97 FPS (the timecode always changed the second on the 30th frame) while the footage is in 25 FPS, which I assume is the reason why the syncing issue. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Thanks a lot in advance

How did you record the audio?

Audio is timebased and one second is always one second and never 29,97 or any other frame rate unless you used a camera to record it. But still, one second is one second no matter if it is recored at 1 fps or 100 fps.

Is this picture running at one frame rate and audio running at another in the same file?

No, the audio and the video were recorded separately.

If the picture and sound were recorded by separate devices, it's possible that the sound will drift out of sync with the picture over time.

It usually takes more than a few seconds to notice drift, though.

You may need to add edits to the audio clip and nudge it for better sync with the Timeline set to show milliseconds rather than frames.

Are you syncing via a slate or clapper or are you using audio or timecode?
