Audio disappears in clip.

Am working with AVCHD with mts files in timeline, have been dropping in open captions, all was good with the clip.  I spent weeks subtitling interviews and when I went back to the first clip from weeks ago to tweak and readjust spelling, placement, etc., I noticed that the audio waves with gone on part of a long clip and they were there a few weeks ago when I put in subtitles.  So there is moving video with no audio in the last part of the clip, but it's there in the first part of the clip. That particular clip is about 37 minutes.  Weird, yes?

I tried a few of the troubleshooting, but none of them applied directly to this issue.

Anyone have this problem or suggestions?   (I wish I could paste a screen grab of the timeline)

kind regards, Brenda

OK, try step 2h below first, and if that doesn't work, step 2i.  Report back.
