Audio Playback problem

Good Evening,

When using premiere, if I click on ANY another program or even just the on the desktop, my audio cuts off in premiere.

Now I have had this issue for a couple of months now, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice. I upgraded to the 2018 version, but the issue is still ongoing. The audio not only cuts off but it doesn't play in either the resource/reference monitor or the timeline. As a matter of fact, the waveforms are gone and I am left with video w/o audio.

My solution to this so far (which is getting old quickly) is to shutdown the program and restart it, but this only helps so much until I have to check my email.

Some one please help!!! I have attached my system info, maybe my computer is the problem.

Alright guys well, After 2 sessions in talking to adobe software engineers we figured out the problem. There is a problem when reading Variable Frame Rates, which come from mobile phones (including Iphone X), web cameras, screen recorders, drones and surveillance cameras. This problem leads to constant frame drops and audio to video sync issues. In my case the audio dropped out completely sometimes during the edit and sometime during the export due to cache linking. So the solution relayed to me was to transcode everything that comes from one of the sources mentioned above before importing into Premiere.

They are working on this for future updates.

I've been very frustrated with ADOBE Premiere Pro AUDIO issues i.e. seemingly big bugs that have not been fixed for several version updates. For me a repeat issue is when I add key-frames to the audio, irrespective of whether I add to the main Volume Level or the L&R of the per channel volume, I can see the key frames in there when I expand the audio track although there is not noticeable chjange in the volume heard upon playblack. The mention of transcoding before import does not seem to work either. There is a degree of randomness to the issue too i.e. the same clip will work fine as I adsd key frames and then suddenly stop working. Any ideas on what is going on?

I have a similar problem. I have to use head phones at the office so when I start Premiere all the sound cuts out on all my applications.

I also find this to be true when I am using external speakers. I have to send the Premiere to the external speakers and other application to the internal.

Hello I'm using an imac retina 5k, 27-inch, 2019 with macOS Catlina 10.15.3. I can't listen the audio playback, in premiere pro cc2020, but if I link it's to audition the audio works normally. I have used the aplication on mac mini late 2014 and its work fantastic, but now in imac retina something is wrong. I try sometimes to configure the hardware audio preference but its no function. I also have a DaVinci Resolve installed on my machine and it works properly. Anybody can help? thanks

I have the same problem on Windows 10, while it does not occur on my Mac High Sierra. On Windows, randomly but very frequently the audio output from my timeline and source monitor is not playing at all. I use a USB Logitech headphone, but it is the same with a standard 3.5 mm headphone plugged into the headphone out.

I can hear sound just fine in all other programs and Windows desktop. Also it usually works when restarting the computer and re-opening Premiere without making any change. So it is clearly a Premiere bug and it is very persistent and super annoying.

As it will play the same file sometimes and not the others it is obviously not related to the cache.

Any help appreciated.

Note that the 12.01 update of last Januari actually includes support for variable frame rate footage.

We have the same issue here in a 50 mac stations environnement. Couple of our users report that they have to shutdown Premiere and reopen 1 or 2 times per week because they lost Audio in the playback. All mac are running El capitan 10.11.6 and they most of them use Audio output directly at the back of the Macpro. They also use AJA T-TAP for Video monitoring. Is there any specific setting that can prevent this to happen ?

After the update/upgrade it is good practice to start with a fresh cache. See here how to do that:

Joost, i will be editing my original post, but to answer the question Yes I have indeed cleared my cache multiple times and the problems persists.
