Macbook Pro 2021, M1 Pro.  Footage is from my A7siii.  4k 10 bit, 4:2:2, Audio from clip is 48khz.  Macbook set to 48khz and sample rate on prmiere set to 48khz. Has had this issue since I got it and continues on Premiere 22.2.0.  Doesn't happen on my other machines.  Had to take video on my phone to show the issue..  it's incredibly annoying when I want to work without headphones for a bit... The sound does not appear on the original footage or on any exports.  Just in playback within premiere.

Here's my audio settings

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear about this. Are you experiencing this issue specifically when playing through your MacBook Pro speakers, or is it also happening with other output devices (like your headphones)? Also, have you tried any other media type & checked if it's playing properly?

Thanks,

Sumeet

Hello, I have the same problem. It works perfectly in other application (like VLC). It's also correlated to the sound volume (the higher the volume is, the higher the crakling is). It's extremely annoying.

Thanks for your help

I run into this exact same issue all the time. It only happens when I hit play on a sequence on my timeline after having paused the playback for a few seconds. It used to happen on my M1 Macbook Pro and now it's happening on my M2 Pro Macbook Pro. The crackling noise only happens when playing sound from my laptop speakers as far as I'm concerned. This doesn't occur when using headphones or editing on my Mac Studio with M1 Max chip.
