Audio remix tool doesn't work

I tried to use the remix tool to extend a track, but it just wouldn't do it. 
The extended area just shows a blank space. 
Even the Essential Sound Panel doesn't seem to work.

    I'm not sure how you got into that state.  I can suggest that you try:
    1. Select the clip that you want to Remix
    2. Open the Essential Sound panel with that clip selected
    3.  Put a check to the right of the "Duration" text, this turns on the Duration section that contains Remix.

    Only a guess:  This makes me think that you have an instance of a messed up Presets folder, and the location cannot be found.  Have you moved Premiere or deleted the Premiere preferences recently?

      This worked!
      But I still can't seem to open the Presets drop-down option in the Essential Panel.
