Hi all, I've haveing a problem where I can only see the Aduio Waveform when my editing timeline in zoomed in really close.
I've attached a jpeg to show what I mean. The timeline on top is zoomed in and Audio waveform can be seen, but if I zoom out a bit more (bottom timeline) the Audio Waveform disappears.
Thanks
Footage is in Mp4 from Sony ZV-1
I'm running 15.4.1 (Build 6) on PC
Your audio is set to show the content as Rectified instead of as a waveform, as for some bizarre reason this is the default setting. Please see the attached image - to access this screen, simply click on the little hamburger icon just to the right of the sequence name - the area in question is just to the left of the drop-down list in the screenshot and looks just like a hamburger with 3 horizontal lines

...Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
I re-encode the footage and now am able to see the Audio Waveform on the timeline.
WIll check with client later as to the audio setting he had while recording.
Cheers

Hi there,
This does not look ideal. Could you test the issue after cleaning media cache ( https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-how-to-clear-your-cache-in-premiere-pro-... ) and resetting the preferences ( https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premie... )?
Let us know if it brings any change.
Regards,
Shivangi

Hiya.
You don't even need to re-encode the audio - literally select the hamburger in the sequence name tab and set to show audio waveforms instead of rectified.

Hi Neil,
As Chief_Tat mentioned, that doesen't work.
Un-rectifying the waveforms does in fact center the waveform to the midle of the audio track instead of having them appear as loudness waveforms from the bottom up, but it does not change the fact that when I zoom out of my timeline, I don't see my waveforms anymore.
I can clearly see all my waveforms when I'm zoomed in from 0 to about 11 seconds, but when I zoom out 1 scroll more, all waveforms turn to blank even if I can still hear the audio.
I could just right click and hit "render and replace" but that would just be overkill, especially for long projects like the one in the picture attached.
It only seems to do it with this particular project though...

yes. it's a constant issue here too. none of the usual remedies fix this, at least as far as i've tried, which is extensively. The moment I zoom in so there is about a 2-inch gap between seconds on the timeline, the wave form instantly appears. The moment I zoom out from that the slightest bit, it disappears. This makes it very difficult to edit lengthy files.

I forgot about this thread and finally found a fix ! All you have to do is delete the temporary files (Audio / Video previews, etc.). It will force Premiere to regenerate all of the waveforms and now my project is back to normal 🙂

So neither deselecting "Rectified Audio Waveforms" in the timeline 'hamburger,' or deleting the media cache from the "Preferences" menu worked for me, however, I was playing around with other options and right clicked on the clip, selected "Replace With Clip -> From Bin." Now the audio waveform looks the same when both zoomed in and zoomed all the way out for me.

The only thing that helped me with this issue was deleting all media cache files. Its avaliable to click only when no projects are open, and adobe restarts automaticlly. On openning the project, it will generate peak files and audio waveforms will show.
