AVCHD Footage Playback w/ TC info for Mac?

I have a producer friend who is not tech savvy and all he wants to do is to plug in an SD card to his iMac, play the footage, see the original time code, and take some log notes.  I am sorry I am posting here, but I thought there would be many programs like that on the net.  He is even ready to pay for them, but almost everything I find looks and sound suspicious.  I tried EditReady to see if that will display the TC info, but it doesn't.  Maybe you folks know of a trusted and reliable software for that purpose?

Ooops - I spoke to soon: it plays the clips recorded by Sony X70 like a charm, but it won't play the AVCHD clips recorded by Panasonic GH5.  I wonder if Panasonic makes something equivalent?  I am downloading their P2ViewerPlus to see if that will work.
