I've been making digital copies of my old VHS tapes using a renkforce RF-GR2 av-grabber. It saves the video on a micro SD card in .avi format.
The problem is Premiere doesn't suport .avi
Is there a codec that I can install so I can edit my videos without having to use handbrake, I have a lot of tapes that are longer then 2,5 hours and it takes handbrake over 9 hours just to convert 1 video. This is going to take me months to convert all of my videos
Here is a screencapture of a video I would love to be able to edit directly
Please help

Yes, its a big pain in the buttocks lol.
The quality of my cheap renkforce RF-GR2 av-grabber didn't bother me at all. Not being able to edit out the beginning and ending of the recordings, without having to handbrake the AVI-file for hours and hours because Adobe can't handle it, made me send it back to the store.
I'd love to have an ADVC 110 DV converter but it's impossible to get so I have to look for something else. That's why I'm trying this method :

But in stead of an mini upscaler I'm going to use a Sony RDR-HX780 DVD recorder for upscaling and a Mcbazel HDMI 4K USB 3.0 Video Capture Card to get the HDMI signal into my laptop. Hopefully I can capture it straight in Premiere but I'll probably have to use OBS because Adobe doesn't like cheap or older hardware

You could also look for an secondhand mini dv camera with analog in which will act as a converter.

Got everything setup and working, except for Premiere, it can't capture from the USB 3.0 device, says it's offline. Thank god for free software like OBS

Which camera is this?

It's an old Sony Handycam (ccd tr417e) I got from one of my neighbors, no fancy outputs just a video and mono tulp. Using it to get those hi8 tapes on my laptop.
