Question

.avi files will not be added

Hei.

For some reason now after changing from CS5.5 and to CC (2017) i can't import my .avi files anymore.

I can watch the file fine on my computer, but when i add it.

It states that the file is corrupt or damaged.

But it is not. I can use the file in the encoder and change the file type, but that is to much hassle when it did work before i upgraded to CC.

Now when i installed the old version that i have it will not work there anymore either, and i think that is because i did not remove the new one first.

Is there coming a patch to fix this?

Regards

Dunstrum

Why is it that the files did work before in cs5.5 and now it will not work anymore. Must have been made a change somewhere i premiere since i have used it alot of times, and now it just will not work. What other software can i use instead of fraps?

You may have to re-install the codec for the particular .avi file you are trying to view - what is the source of the file? Any idea what codec is it, like DV or Cineform or Black Magic or ???

Try using the free MediaInfo software to see what the file consists of, post results here for review perhaps?

    Thanks

This is the info i get with the software:

    Video

    ID                                       : 0

    Format                                   : Fraps

    Codec ID                                 : FPS1

    Duration                                 : 3 min 14 s

    Bit rate                                 : 201 Mb/s

    Width                                    : 1 920 pixels

    Height                                   : 1 080 pixels

    Display aspect ratio                     : 16:9

    Frame rate                               : 30.000 FPS

    Color space                              : YUV

    Bit depth                                : 8 bits

    Bits/(Pixel*Frame)                       : 3.233

    Stream size                              : 4.56 GiB (99%)

    and this:

    Format                                   : AVI

    Format/Info                              : Audio Video Interleave

    Format profile                           : OpenDML

    File size                                : 8.86 GiB

Its the Fraps codec that is giving the issue.

    No patch.

    Need to convert first.
