Question

Avid AAF -> Premiere

Hello all

I followed the video provided on the Avid site on how to move a project from Avid into Premiere. Followed every step to the letter.

However, when I open a new project in Premiere, and attempt to import the AAF file, it does so with no problem, but no bin is created, as is meant to.

The log file only has a simple entry about the end of clip extended to include entire transition.

The process looks like it's working, and takes some seconds, but no bin file.

Cannot find help anywhere. Urgent need to move forward with this project.

Latest versions of Media Composer and Premiere on MacOs.

Thanks!

Hello 'default03',

I'm not sure what 'no bin file' means. In PPro, bins only appear in the Project, and don't correspond to anything on the actual file system.

If you can post the AAF somewhere, we can take a look (and can provide private upload space, as needed); let me know

Thank you for the response. The video at this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/import-aaf-files-from-avid-media-composer.html says that after importing the AAF file, a bin appears in the project. It contains the sequence and associated clips. This is what I meant by "no bin". I think the AAF file is too large to post here. I will email you.

Hi Andrew - I've been looking into your AAF and have narrowed the issue down to a few clips.  All the following appear to be linked clips in Avid as opposed to transcoded media:

  • A009_07161857_C006
  • A009_07161848_C003
  • A009_07162008_C020
  • A009_07161838_C001
  • A008_07162237_C017

Is there anything specific that is different/unique about these clips, aside from the fact that they are linked, from the rest of the transcoded media?  Premire Pro does support the import of linked clips in an AAF, so I don't believe that the linking in and of itself is the issue.  When I remove any use of these clips from your sequence, I am able to generate an AAF that does successfully import into Premiere Pro.

Ah...thank you! I will try that!
