Avid Editor needs help

New Here ,

Hi everyone,

for a new job I need some help. I want to recover some parts of my avid workflow (for broadcast) in adobe premiere (for broadcast as well).

So here we go:

1. Can I "preview" my clip in a timeline with an easy toggle? I need that sometimes for the audio, to know where on which track the miced/boomed audio is and where the audio of the build-in-mic.

Its called Toggle Source/Record in Avid, is there something similar inside of Premiere?

Is there another solution inside Premiere find the right audiotrack where my good audio is?

2. The broadcasters want the audio to be like this:

A1= Sound on tape  A2=Atmo  A3+4=Music  A5+6=Music  A7+A8=SFX

A1+2 should they be panned left and right? In Avid it's my preset to have all panned left and right.

When I pan A1 to center its on also A2 on the master mxf later. Only with panning I can split the audios in Premiere right?

3. With using shift can I snap the timeline courser to my clips inside Premiere. I'm used to do this with Ctrl. Can I change it somewhere? I didn't found an option for this in the keyboard settings

4. Can I load multiple clips from my timeline to my source monitor in Premiere? (the lift function in avid)

5. Can I tell Premiere somehow to import all clips as multichannel audio and not in stereo?

Many thanks in advance 🙂

1) Are you looking to open timeline clips in the source monitor? Double click or Shift+O

2) See attached images

3) I don't think this is changable for some reason

4) Yes, you can switch between clips in the Source monitor via the hamburger menu

5) Preferences > Timeline > Default Audio Tracks (Yes this is a stupid location, it was moved recently)

David K.,

1. Toggle Source/Program Monitor Focus. You can find that in Keyboard shortcuts. Assign the shortcut of your choice.

4. Click the button in the Timeline (upper left) that says, "Insert and Overwrite Sequences as nests or individual clips."

Had to light up those Avid memory cells. I hope that is helpful.
