Ouch ... that's a really poorly lit green-screen to start with. So it will be very difficult to 'fix' that in post.

Reshoot if at all possible ... or you might need to go to Ae to roto that to get a clean mask.

When shooting green-screen, having a totally evenly lit screen is massive in being able to generate a good clean mask. Because if you are having a wide range of light to dark greens, it is dramatically harder to cut a key.

And also, if you have a couple lights from the back sides, "skim" lights pointed at the back of the subject, they help keep a clean edge to everything including wild/loose hairs.

Sometimes, grading a poorly lit or uneven green screen can make keying much easier.

1. Open Lumetri Color

  • Go to Window > Lumetri Color to access the panel.

2. Use HSL Secondary to Target the Green

  • Scroll down to the HSL Secondary section.
  • Use the color picker to select the green screen.
  • Adjust the Hue (H), Saturation (S), and Luma (L) values to isolate the green screen as much as possible.

3. Refine the Matte

  • Use the Denoise and Blur sliders to clean up the selection edges.

4. Enhance the Green Screen

  • Increase the Saturation and add a green Tint to make the screen more uniform.
  • Lower the Contrast to minimize uneven lighting.

5. Apply the Ultra Key Effect

  • Once the green screen is more vibrant and consistent, apply the Ultra Key effect to key out the background effectively.
