Best way of importing and creating proxies for latest version

Contributor ,

With previous versions, I was able to import and create proxies overnight after creating a new project. It was a real time saver and worked well.

Form what I can tell with the latest version, we need to create the proxies after we have created the project, selected the clips, imported them, then go to the project panel, select all and then create proxies. Phew!

Am I missing something or is this how we are supposed to do it from now on?

The previous version was way more efficient.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It should be as simple as this: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-e&q=create+proxies+with+premiere+pro+2023#kpvalbx=_Gw...

I don't (have to) work with proxies that frequently, but please let us know how much easier it used to be compared to the method shown above.

Thanks.

Thanks Richard, yes that's how the latest version requires us to create proxies.

The older versions, I would open PP, create new project, select folder location, set up to create proxies and open project. Then I would simply drop all clips into the project panel in assembly, save project and PP would open ME and create proxies through the night.

I felt this system was more efficient.

Haven' seen what Richard's video link shows ... but on creating a project, you can simply type a Name, select Location, then make sure 1) nothing in the 'select media' section in the middle is selected and 2) no options upper right are selected (blue).

Then click "create", and you get your blank project open.

Now use the MediaBrowser set to Ingest (a method of importing media) and make proxies as part of the Ingest process.

Go home, get some sleep.
