Question

Black screen in program monitor and specific timeline

Hi,

I'm having a bit of trouble with my Premiere Pro.

When I open one of my timelines all i get is a blackscreen in the program monitor.
I can still see clips in different timelines but on some it just doesn't show them.

When I double click on a clip it will show it but whenever I'm back in the timeline it just goes on black again.

Is there someone who struggled with this before and knows the solution?

Thanks in advance!

If you can drop the clips from the project panel that don't work in the problem timeline into a new timeline and they work okay, then Bob's suggestion should fix your issue.

If you can't do that, then please examine the clips that work *and* those that don't with MediaInfo to see if you can spot any differences in clip properties that may be affecting their performance in Pr.

Hi Jeff,

It didn't do the trick for me.

I think i'm just gonna spot my footage again, but i still don't know why it happend and why I can't fix it.

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-clear-your-media-cache-in-30-seconds-in-premiere-pro-2020/m-p/11017257/thread-id/260446?page=1

Then try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Can you please share your system info? Like OS and version, CPU, RAM, GPU vRAM, Pr version? Thanks. Also a screen grab of your issue will be helpful.

Hi there!

Sorry about the trouble. Which device did you use to capture the media files? Does it happen with specific files?

Let us know.

Thanks,

Kartika

Sorry about this behavior.

Seems like either something is amis with the codecs on your system, your GPU or the preferences of the program that may need to be reset.

Please try this:

1 - Please check that you have updated your GPU

2 - Create a new sequence and in Sequence Settings choose a different Editing Mode and Preview File format. Then, from the original sequence, copy/paste all footage to the new sequence.

3 - Reset the Preferences: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/m-p/8236158

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.

I've already tried updating my GPU, windows, checked for updates on premiere pro and restarted my pc multiple times.

The reset also doesn't do it for me.

It's with a specific TL and not my premiere overall.

Any other advice?
