BUG in PP 23.4: Paste into timeline actives project window

Just moved up to 23.4 from 23.2. Since this upgrade, whenever I paste on or into an active timeline, PP activates the Project window after the paste is complete. I want to keep working in the timeline and cannot understand why it would default to the Project window at this point. Super frustrating behaviour from Premiere which is adding time to my day. Please help and fix!

(If anyone knows or can test if this is still the case in 23.5, please let me know?)

Thanks, Patrick (iMac 2017 Big Sur)

That looks like a method I tested.

FYI, 23.6.0 is out as of yesterday (for me). Have not tested much yet.

One month later and now updated to 23.5 (same computer specs). Issue keeps occuring sporadically. It'll behave normally all day and then for some reason that I can't determine, PP will go back to activating the Project window once I've hit the 'paste' or 'paste into' command. Weird! I'll keep trying to find a consistent reason for this issue. Would appreciate input and upvotes from anyone also experiencing this.

BTW thanks Stan. I'm copy/pasting like this:

1. select clips on sequence I'm copying from using cmd-C shortcut

2. changing to the sequence that I want to paste into by either clicking on its tab in the timeline window, or using my shortcut (cmd-4)

3. pasting at playhead using cmd-V, or paste into using shift-cmd-V

I am not getting this in 23.5 on Windows 10.

Copy from same or a different sequence, after paste, focus stays in Timeline Panel.

If I select a clip in the Project Panel and insert or overwrite, the focus stays in the Project Panel.

How are you copy/pasting?
