Question

Cache location! Is there a fix for this that actually works?

I have read all the posts about Premiere's cache location and fixes. Some posts point you to a dead link, others tell you to delete the existing cache on the C: drive, Change it in Premiere to the new location, Reboot, Load Premiere with default preferences.

After buying a NVE SSD 1Gb just for cache about a year ago. I still have never had this work. From Premiere Pro CC2018 To current 2020. Tried all the suggestions but still no mater what I end up with it creating a cache on the C: drive as well as SOME (very little) files on the new location pointed to.

Is there a FIX that actually works? Does anybody know of it?

Thanks Tony.

Did you set the new location in the Preferences/Media Cache?

Of course, this is the whole point. It never works no matter what guides I follow.

Set the cache in Premiere and the other abobe programs. Close the programs, delete the existing cache. Reboot, Load Premiere with Default preferences. Nothing works. Tried every method I have read about so far and it seems I am not alone? This is why I am asking whether there is a method that works? And if so what is it?

Thanks.

Yep, agree, thought of that and tried that. Makes no difference. It still creates a new Media Cache folder on the C: drive even with my Premiere Preferences pointed to the new location.

Further I have just found an article that states that even when the location of the cache is changed, ims files will still be created and stored in a Media Cache Directory of the Root C: drive?
