Question

Can Premiere/Encoder export an MXF XDCAMHD 35 NTSC @ 720p59.94f?

Hello

I'm trying to export an MXF file with a 35mbps (or lower) XDCAM codec that is 720p/59.94f for putting sporting events back onto Sony discs so we have a separate archive from our servers. I have the 50mbps (4:2:2) option but the bit rate is too high for fitting entire games on the 50gb discs. When I select the XDCAMHD 18/35/50 NTSC Codec in Encoder, the frame size is locked at 1440x1080 anamorphic and the frame rate can only be 23.97 or 29.97.

Am I missing a codec or am I trying the impossible? If the Sony decks can record at these bit rates why can't I export the same kind of file and put it back on the discs for playback?

iMac 2017

OSX 10.12.6

Adobe CC2017 & 2018 (different computers)

Sequence Settings/Desired output: 1280x720 (1.0), 59.94fps, Progressive, 48000Hz, 4 Multichannel 16 bit

Appreciate any help.

Thanks for posting this question.  It worked for me when I did the following:  Control+M, Premiere Encode window pops up.  Chose Mxf op1a, and chose the 50Mbps preset as you mentioned.  Press Que and then changed that to the 35Mbps once in Media Encoder.  Strange work around.  I then save that as a custom preset.  Annoying that it doesn't remember this with a new project, but I'm hoping this works.  Still in test phase of an upgrade to the latest version of cc.

Actually, the 35Mbps exists under codecs in premiere pro at the encode window but not under presets.

In Media Encoder,if you choose Format: MXF OP1 then click on the Preset drop down menu, you don't see XDCAM HD 50 NTSC 720p60 as an option?

I do have that, but the 50mbps bit rate is too high. We have to fit two and a half hours of content on disks sometimes and at most that's about an hour and a half. I'm really looking for something around 35 or lower if it exists because I don't have the codec loaded or it doesn't work with encoder.

i see mine has a xdcamx 18/35 ntsc 720 4:2:0 at 59.94.

apparently you can't have your cake and eat it too if you want 4:2:2, which is kind of silly that its greyed out for 720.
