Can't capture on Premiere with the Canon XL1s

Alright... So I've been dealing with this problem recently and I can't seem to figure it out. I have a Canon XL1s and am using a 4 to 9 pin firewire on my Mac to capture. When I go into System Information, it says there is something in, and my camera says DV in.  Whenever I try to capture I can't connect my camera, and it ends up capturing nothing. How can I resolve this?
