Can't change Media Cache Location with Premiere Pro CC 2017

Ok, so I finally created a project that is too slow to effectively edit. So for the first time I try to set the cache to a different physical disk than the default location. I buy a new ultra fast SSD drive for the task. But after browsing and setting the location, when I click OK, The OK button turns blue but the dialog is never dismissed and I can't do anything until I click the cancel button. That dismisses the dialog but the location has not changed when I reopen the dialog. I've tried setting it to a different disk, even a different location on the boot drive (from the default location). Nothing seems to work.

What am I missing?

I was having this same exact issue and found a fix on mac.

The problem appears to be that the program wasn't allowed to access my media cache to move it, so it just did nothing. it took a bit of research but I found where all these preference files and cache files were in my library and changed the permissions on all related folders so everyone could read and write. Then restarted and it worked first try.

I've seen other Mac users report issues with hitting OK.  Search the forums, see what turns up.

Hi Terrystoneberg,

Sorry about the trouble, that seems to be an issue of corrupt preferences.

Please trash/reset the preferences. FAQ: How to reset preferences in Premiere Pro?

That will also resolve your original issue of slow performance.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

Reset the prefs 3 times, the first and second times by restarting with option key down, the 3rd time with shift and option key down. After the first time all my recent projects were no longer listed in the recent files panel, so I assume the preferences were reset (according to the link that you gave me). But the behavior remains. I can brows to the folder I want to use for my media cache files, but I cannot dismiss the preferences dialog. Click on OK does nothing. Clicking on Cancel dismisses the dialog, but my Media Cache location is not changed.

Since resetting the preferences didn't work, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere choosing the delete preferences option. Still won't work, what can I do? This is really annoying. BTW, I find nothing in the forums about a button problem like this.
