Can't delete text on the transcription menu

I'm editing a caption video. I'm deleting sentences in a transcript. I pressed delete, but it didn't work. I even tried right clicking and pressing delete, but to no avail. The option is available, but for some reason, it doesn't let me delete or cut.

When I press the delete button on my keyboard or on the right click menu, the menu closes and nothing happens.

I believe I found the answer in this post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/text-based-editing-not-working/m-p/13788573

You have to enable "Automatically set In/Out points" next to the Text Search bar.

I am also having this issue.

  • Premiere Pro version 24.1 (CC app says it is up to date as of 12/15/23)
  • When right clicking, delete button is not grayed out, but clicking is does nothing.
  • Cut/Paste on the text also has no effect
  • Footage is 4K, 29.97fps, .mp4 from Sony FX3
  • Sequence was created directly from right clicking a clip. I also tried using one of the new version sequence presets.

Are the audio and video tracks locked?

Nope, they're fine.

I can reset premiere pro and it fixes, but then the bug comes back. I don't know why this is happening. Ruining my workflow
