Can't Drag Clips To Timeline... Can't Move Clips In The Timeline?

For the last few weeks, I've been having CONSTANT issues with my Premier timeline not allowing me to move clips.  It would work fine for an hour or maybe several hours, and then just randomly lock my clips to  their position in the timeline.  I could trim the length, and do other things to the clip, but I am not allowed to actually slide the clip forward/backward or move it up/down to a different track.

This week it has started to happen about 60% of the time I'm working, leading me to have to close my projects and reopen Premier 50 to 100 times a day.  So.... time consuming and annoying.  Then it all works fine for a little while, until it locks my timeline again.

STUPIDLY, I thought that upgrading to the most recent version of Premier might fix my issues.  Sadly, this has DESTROYED my ability to work in Premier at all.

Now... I don't even get an hour or two of the program working.  I open up a project and EVERYTHING is locked on the timeline.  Can't move any clips.  Furthermore, I can't even drag new clips to my timelinie.  Every action I try to make is greeted with the "NO" symbol, a circle with a slanted line through it.  Oh... and now, within just a few minutes of opening these uneditable projects, I get a pop up informing me that there has been a fatal error with Premier and it has to shut down.

I've tried EVERY single "fix" I have been able to find on the internet and NONE OF THEM work.

What do I do from here.  I've got MASSIVE projects 90% complete and I can't finish them now and I'm freeked out.

I am now paying for a product this is 100% completely useless to me.

Does Adobe have any sort of direct support staff, or is my only option to ask kind folks on the net?

Did you try to reset the preferences? hold ALT on the splash screen.

What if you start a brand new project and import the old one into it?

if it doesn't solve your problem, share your system specs and

workflow please so we can be able to help you better.

I thought I, too, had this issue, but I suspect I might have had "Track Keyframes" turned on, which renders everything in that track unselectable.

Do you have multiple monitors by any chance?

Try dragging your timeline panel on to your main monitor.

You could try resetting your workspace as well.

THANK YOU JEFF!  You had what turned out to be the right answer as well.  No multiple monitors, but the reset preferences thing was the answer.  I actually used to teach Premier like ten years ago and I've NEVER HEARD of this "reset preferences" thing before.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, so much!..  This worked.  I can now finish up my projects.

It still locks everything up after I've been working for an hour or two, but I just have to save and reopen and then it works again.  Highly annoying, but I've learned to live with that on Premier as it's done that for months.
