Question

Can't import Sony A7IV MP4 files anymore, Premiere Pro 23.6.0

Hi everyone,

getting mad trying to fix this. I can't seem to import MP4 files anymore in Premiere Pro 23.6.0. I've been using my camera for a year now and always worked with premiere. The weird fact is, downgrading Premiere Pro to version 22 doent's fix it, I don't understand why. I tried to clear cache, reinstall, reset camera and so on suggested in other topics. It works perfectly when converting to MOV or any other videos files, but premiere has always been working with MP4 files...

See a screenshot attached, it basically tries to load the video forever...

Hi there!

Sorry about that. Are your files saved on an external drive? If so, move files to the internal drive and then try to import them.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kartika

Hi Kartika,

always doing the same, videos are in Movies folders on my internal drive, I can't find out what is going on, it doesn't import any MP4 file anymore (from Sony, OBS, or other devices)... I'm converting all the videos in MOV before importing for now.. Hope I can find a solution, I don't want to wipe reset my Mac.

Hi marco.civale,

Have you tried changing the location of the media files (like moving to a folder on the desktop) & checked if it's importing from there? If you are still experiencing issues, try disabling hardware accelerated decoding under Premiere Pro > Settings > Media & check if it's working properly.

Thanks,

Sumeet
