Question

Can't move audio clip keyframes in timeline?

Currently trying to duck music tracks up & down in an edit and I'm having a lot of trouble with audio keyframes. I've been working on this edit for 2 months and everything has been fine up until now. I can add keyframes to an audio clip with the pen tool, but I can not move these keyframes in any direction. Whether using the pen tool or selection tool, the keyframes will not budge. When I first click on the keyframe I would like to move, it appears to glitch and the keyframe moves down a bit and then stops, and then I can't drag it anywhere. I seem to be able to adjust the audio clip level using the fader in the "audio clip mixer" for some reason, but can't add keyframes. I also can't seem to change the audio level keyframes in the clip "effect controls" panel either.  I have reset my Premiere preferences, changed to a default workspace, checked to ensure "clip keyframes" was enabled in the timeline as opposed to "track keyframes",  updated to 14.0.0, and tested the issue in an empty project, but nothing has worked. Is this a bug? Is there a setting that I unknowingly enabled? Any advice would be helpful.

I have effects on the audio tracks, but no keyframes. This same issue applies to speed ramp keyframes and opacity keyframes on video clips. I have also noticed that clicking and dragging the playhead through my edit has gotten much choppier and slower since this problem started, which leads me to believe I accidently enabled some hidden setting.

Attached below is a video of the issue:

It's been a while since I had this issue. I resolved it with a few things. I only run adobe programs when editing and I keep my computer clean and organized. If I'm not mistaken I think I fixed this issue with a complete reinstall of the Adobe programs I use none of the others I thought I'd need someday, I got rid of the ones I wasn't using. I keep my system up to date and the only time I delay updating is when I'm working with another editor sharing project files and an update comes out mid-project. Otherwise, I keep things updated. Since starting this practice I have not had any issue with Adobe. I'm only doing  Photo, Audio, and Video editing with some Aftereffects. But mostly working in Premier. I hope this helps.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm dealing with this issue in 2024. Do you have a lot of plugins? Reinstalling is always a problem for me because of all the plugins and scripts and 3rd party effects. Did you have to deal with that?

I am having the same issue. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. No rhyme or reason.

Any updates on this problem? I am having the exact same issue here. Also my adobe application manager is outdated since I updated my Mac and will not launch. Have not found an update yet. Please help. \

To everyone.

Please, please when posting can you give the following details:

Operating System and build number

This is absolutely vital, otherwise we simply do not have a clue where to start with helping.

I've had this same issue many, many times over the past few years. It seems to get fixed eventually by uninstalling and restarting everything (sometimes). But every time Adobe updates the problem comes back and sometimes I just starts happening out of nowhere.

I really with Adobe would take this problem seriously. I've reported it as an issue many times and the answer is always the stock "just reset your preferences" which does not work.

Adobe is so glitchy anymore. I love how many softwares come bundled together, but now there are some great competitors that are one-time payments are have much less glitches (Affinity for graphic design, and Davinci for video.) I really love Adobe and I've been loyal customer for nearly 10 years, but this one issue (which really ruins the productivity of editing) has been plaguing it for so long I'm seriously considering leaving.

Same issue here.

First noticed the issue while trying to scrub the timeline. Handle doesn't work, but blue line does.

Next, Effects Controls values don't respond to dragging.

Finally, Audio keyframes don't respond to dragging.

This is bad, guys.

For now the problem is solved for me. here is what I did (I hope the problem will not come back):

1. I uninstalled all adobe products including creative cloud.

2. RESTARTED the system,

3. deleted ALL the files related with premiere in the system(Library folder on mac)

4. RESTART again

5. I installed adobe premiere afresh...and it's working now.

Previously I did everything mencioned above, but without the restaring parts and it didn't solve the problem (i noticed that adobe will always run something on background). I hope this will spare some of you wasting more tine in looking for solutions...

What is going on with this? Also on Big Sur on a mac. And can't move audio keys. It's a fundemental aspect of video editing and without it the program is pretty useless. I can't believe how long this seems to have been going on. Please let me know if this has been resolved, I'd like to get some work done.

nothing yet... I am considering moving to final cut or davinci. For the past 2 weeks most of my projects are on hold because of premiere.

Can you please share your system info? Like OS and version, CPU, RAM, GPU vRAM, Pr version? Thanks. Also a screen grab of your issue will be helpful.

I can't adjust motion and effect values with click and drag in "effect controls" panel. I can't move keyframes in timeline (for audio and video tracks). I reinstalled premiere, deleted caches and preferences. thank you

I am having the same issue with moving keyframes in the timeline. I can't move time remapping keyframes or audio keyframes at all. Is this a bug?

I am also having the same issue. I'm trying to move all my clips including my audio fade keyframes further down the timeline. I would also like to copy and paste the keyframes, but they simply will not move. I wish they would simply move like the video clips move, with all their keyframes and effects information.

Just want to follow up and say that this issue is not resolved yet. However, everything seems to be okay when I open the project on a different computer.

Thanks for the reply. As I said above though, I've already tried clearing my preferences and it doesn't work.

I have seen some odd behaviour with audio keyframes.
