Question

Can't move items in project panel

I'm using Premiere Pro 23.1.0 on a Mac

For some reason within my project panel I can't move anything. Like I can't move a bin, sequence, or footage into other bins. I also can't drag and drop import, I've only been able to use the media browser and right click for importing.

Everything else works fine. I can drag clips into a sequence on my timeline, and also sequences into the source panel.

This still happens for me randomly and often on Premiere Pro 23.3.

When it happens, I also cannot use click and drag to import into the project panel and some keyboard shortcuts like space bar for play/stop do not work, while some like Cmnd+S work.

Any time it happens I have to relaumch Premiere and it's usually fixed for a while. This has been happenning for me across many projects on multiple versions of Premiere.

I'm having this problem as well (Version 23.5.0) and it's really making me nuts.  Like others have said, it will work awhile after relaunching the app (sometimes) and will work for awhile after resetting preferences, but it always resurfaces.  I think I'm resetting preferences at least twice a day.

Try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/8236158?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.
