Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble removing pauses in the transcription panel in Adobe Premiere Pro. I’ve highlighted the pauses in the transcript, but it won’t let me delete them. I’ve tried disabling the "Pauses" feature and making edits directly on the timeline, but nothing seems to work. The delete button is grey, can't select it.
Here’s a bit more info:
Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does anyone know a workaround? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
It sounds like you might be viewing the Source Monitor transcript, which doesn’t allow editing. Try clicking on your timeline to switch focus, and then return to the Text panel. This should enable the Delete Pauses button.

I think I ended up having to either close the project and reopen it a few times or completely start over I can't recall which but I managed to get it working. I think it was start a new project but try both of those.

In the Text panel, click the three dots in the upper-right corner and check if it says "Generate Text-Based Editing Transcript". If it does, this means you're currently viewing a static transcript, which doesn't support text-based editing features like Delete or Insert.
To enable text-based editing, you'll need to generate transcripts for your source clips first. Click Generate Text-Based Editing Transcript and let Premiere transcribe your media. Once the transcripts are generated, you’ll be able to use all the text-based editing tools.

A screenshot might help. There are 2 reasons this won't work.
1 - You are in source monitor view rather than program monitor view. As @PaulMurphy explained, you cannot delete pauses (or filler words) in source view. You can edit text and speakers in source view. To determine the view you are in, look at the bottom left of the Transcript tab.
2 - You have a static, sequence transcript. If you do, you can filter by pauses and you will see them (and "pauses" greyed out in the search box), but the delete button is greyed out because you cannot edit them in a static transcript. Paul describes how to re-transcribe using the 3 dot menu to "Generate Text-Based Editing Transcript."

Bonsoir,
D'avance merci.

Whether you're using a static transcription or a text-based one, the transcription accuracy should be the same.
From your screenshots, it looks like the transcription may be misinterpreting the spoken language. This often happens when the language settings are incorrect or if automatic detection is enabled.
To improve accuracy, try the following steps:
Once you've updated these settings, re-transcribe your sequence using the Text-Based Editing option and check if the results are more accurate.

These suggestions should have worked. Your timeline is complex. When you do the static transcription, what audio are you picking, "mix" or a track?
If you used the "Generate text-based editing transcript," to go from static to text-based, it does NOT re-transcribe the source clips. It uses the last transcription of them you did. I have to assume that this is still with the wrong language.
To fix this, you have to retranscribe all the source clips that contribute to the sequence transcript. You should test this first.
In the sequence, is the clip in Audio 1 at the very beginning part of the dialogue? If so, find that clip in the Project Panel, right-click and pick re-transcribe. What language do you see there? Re-transcribe it.
If your sequence still has the static transcript, use the "Generate text-based editing transcript" option. Now look at the sequence transcript for that clip. Is it improved? If yes, you can select all the source clips in the Project Panel, right-clip, and use re-transcribe for all of them at once.
