Can't see anchor point for moving titles with Basic 3D

TL;DR - Is there a separate anchor point for the Basic 3D effect, especially when working with titles? Details below...

I'm trying to have a title, nothing but text, swing down like a hanging sign. When I use the text tool to draw out the text box, and after typing text in there, I apply Basic 3D to the title. When I adjust the Tilt parameter, the text tilts around the center of the frame, not the anchor point at the corner of the text box. Moving that blue crosshair does not affect the 3D anchor point it seems.

I then saw that you could see the real anchor point by clicking on "Motion" in the Effect Controls panel. I moved that blue crosshair to where I want the text to pivot and no change; the text still tilts around the center of the frame.

If I move the text within the frame itself from the Essential Graphics panel, I can move the text to just below the center of the frame and it now tilts the way I want it to. The problem is that it is difficult to setup anything other than the most rudimentary motions because I can't visualize the actual 3D anchor point. None of the blue crosshairs I can find affect the 3D motion at all; the anchor point is locked to the center of the frame.

Is this just the way it is? I have to work from the center of the frame for any title I'd like 3D motion on? Is there a way to see this anchor point so I can more precisely align it to the rest of the project? It really seems like the Basic 3D effect has it's own anchor point, and that unlike other effects, you aren't able to see/modify it within the existing frame.

I appreciate any insight into this issue,

Jesse

You can do this more easily without adding effects.

Create your text box. Then in the ECP, go to the Graphics section, click on the "Anchor" line. You'll now see the anchor point.

In the Program monitor, hover the cursor over the anchor point until you see the four-way arrow thing, then drag the Anchor point to where you want it to be.

Now it will rotate and size from that point.

Rotating in EGP is not the same as swivel/tilt in the Basic 3D effect.

No tilt for sure! But if you don't need tilting ...

I am having this same issue, and you're the only person I could find online with the same problem. Did you ever figure this out??

If you want to change the socalled anchor point of Basic 3D then use the Offset effect.
