Can you automate clip number as a watermark?

Could the clip number be automatically added as a watermark in premiere? I'm creating an MP4 with multiple clips for people to scroll through, and I want them to easily identify each clip by its number. It seems like I can only add the clip number manually for each clip, but I have a lot of clips and would prefer to automate the process to make it more efficient.

Easy then. Put an Adjustment Layer over your timeline. (Stretch it out so it covers the whole timeline you are interested in). Then add the Metadata & timecode Burn-in effect to the adjustment layer, and set it like so...

If you really want to have the shot numbers (i.e. count the clips) instead of their names, YouTuber "Better Editor" also developed a great solution with my (paid) extension Automation Blocks for Pr:

Ha! Good one @Mathias Moehl, I was holding my breath that it was file names she wanted!

When you say clip numbers, do you mean clip names?
