Can you use Render files to export a timeline you have lost the raw footage for?

We have lost original files to a project and need to re-export it. We have the project file, as well as the last round of video and audio render files - is there any way possible to utitlise these to do an export? This is a hail mary I know 😞

Here's how you can use your render files to rebuild your timeline:

  1. Import the preview files into your project.
  2. Most preview formats (except MPEG) will add timecode metadata to the preview file that corresponds with its sequence timecode, which will make it easy to rebuild your timeline.
  3. Select all your preview files, and choose Clip > Create Multi-camera Source Sequence.
  4. For Synchronize Point, choose Timecode and tick Create single multicam source sequence.
  5. Open the new multi-camera source sequence, right-click, and choose Open in Timeline. This will reveal all your preview files in the order they were in your sequence.

That would be a cool fix @PaulMurphy I've been searching my drives trying to find some preview files with timecode. I haven't found any yet, but I'll keep looking and/or possibly make some.

I'm wondering if these, which Adobe suggested they be off, have anything to do with that?

There is an option on export to use 'Preview files', I don't how that would work.
